Congratulations to Prof. David Buss for receiving the Lifetime Career Award from the Human Behavior and Evolution Society

 

Dr. David Buss has received this year's Lifetime Career Award for Distinguished Scientific Contribution from the Human Behavior and Evolution Society (HBES), the world’s largest international society of human evolutionary scientists. 

The Lifetime Career Award is awarded to HBES members who have made distinguished theoretical or empirical contributions to basic research in evolution and human behavior. Dr. Buss received the award at the 30th annual HBES conference held July 4–7 in Amsterdam, Netherlands (pictured, receiving the award from past HBES President Leda Cosmides). 

Founded at the University of Michigan in 1988, Dr. Buss receiving Lifetime Career AwardHBES was formed to "promote the exchange of ideas and research findings using evolutionary theory, including studies of animal behavior, to better understand human nature." According to their website, the scientific perspectives represented by HBES members range from evolutionary psychology to evolutionary anthropology and cultural evolution. Members come from a range of disciplines in the social and biological sciences worldwide. Dr. Buss was president of HBES from 2005–2007.
