Revealing the unexamined costs of rape

A new study by psychology professor David Buss and former student Carin Perilloux (now a visiting assistant professor at Union College in New York) is to be published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior. 

Their findings show that  victims  of sexual assault and even attempted sexual assault suffer a wide spectrum of debilitating effects which may go unnoticed or undiagnosed. Areas affected include self-esteem, sexual reputation, frequency of sex, desire to have sex, and self-perceived mate value or desirability.
