Scheduling an Appointment

Please click HERE to schedule an appointment.

Our Office provides a variety of advising services on an appointment basis. (See list of advisors below.) We do not schedule appointments via email. Please leave specific questions in the comments section and make sure you receive a confirmation email.

* In order to meet with an Academic Advisor, students must schedule an appointment at least one day in advance.

Advising Services

Current UT Psychology majors can make appointments with the Undergraduate Advising Office for assistance with: Registration, strategic planning, study abroad planning, honors programs, academic concerns, SUCCESS advising, research opportunities, and transfer of credit. We also assist students with graduate school and career planning, and making appropriate referrals to campus resources.

Please see a Liberal Arts Student Division Advisor in Gebauer Hall (GEB 2.200) to discuss any of the following: Q Drops and pass/fail, one time exception drops (OTE), applying to graduate, official degree check, etc.

Walk-In Advising takes place only during registration and the Add/Drop period due to heavy student traffic. We will take walk ins only when announced via email by the advising office; these ONLY concern current registration and add/drop issues.

***Psychology Advisors only meet with current UT Psychology majors; If you a current UT student and are interested in how you can major in Psychology at UT, click here.

Advising Bar

Advising bars are placed on a student's record in order to require a student see an academic advisor prior to registration. This is done for certain populations of students because it is felt that academic advising is especially important for them, and by placing a bar, the student and the advisor can go over the student's record and discuss any issues or problems that may have arisen.

In Psychology, we feel that first-time students to the department (whether new students to the university, or transferring from another department on campus) and those students who are on academic probation, benefit most from having an advising bar placed on their record.

To clear an advising bar, you'll need to come into our office to see an advisor. You will not be able to access ROSE, the online registration system, until the bar has been removed.
