Warfield Center Hosts Yoruba Day Celebration

The John L. Warfield Center will host its Sixth Annual Yoruba Day Celebration. The schedule of events include:

12-1 p.m Welcome & Lunch. Food provided by West African Catering.

1-1:30 p.m. Yoruba 507 First-Year Yoruba II (Head Tie [Gèlè] & Yoruba Performance).

1:30-2:30 p.m.  "The Role of Orisa in Copoeira Angola," presented by Dorian Layssard, Director of the Orun Center of Cultural Arts.

2:30-3 p.m.  "The Personal Meets the Political: Bitter Sweet Narratives of Oluremi Obasanjo," presented by Tosin Abiodun, Graduate Student, Department of History, The University of Texas at Austin.

3-3:30 p.m. Presentation by Yoruba Progressives of Austin    

3:30-3:50 p.m. Yoruba 312L Second-Year Yoruba II, presented by Dr. Afolabi's Class  (Yoruba Playlet).

3:50-4 p.m.  Closing Remarks
