Camp Shakespeare presents The Winter's Tale

Saturday Jul 15, 2017 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM | Winedale Historical Center

“It is required

 You do awake your faith”

With this invocation, the Lady Paulina invites everyone into the magical world of possibility, William Shakespeare’s tragi-comical romance, The Winter’s Tale. Reminiscent of every fairy-tale “once upon a time,” this tale is about a jealous King who wrongfully accuses his wife of infidelity and suffers the consequences: Apollo condemns him, his wife and son die and his infant daughter is lost in the wilderness.  Sixteen years later, we discover a pastoral, festive, world of song and dance and love, as the play moves toward one of the most astonishing and moving moments in Shakespeare.

The Winter’s Tale will be performed by actors in Camp Shakespeare beginning Thursday, July 13, at 3:30 p.m., at the Crystal Theater in Gonzales, Tx. The Friday, July 14, event is a Gala cocktail-dinner-performance in Henkel Hall, Round Top, Tx, beginning at 5:00 p.m.  The final performance is at Winedale on Saturday, July 15, at 1:00 p.m.
