Application Process for Graduate Students
The Engaged Scholar Initiative will support two cohorts of approximately seven graduate students each.
Cohort 1: participants began in Summer 2017.
Cohort 2: participants began in Summer 2018.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following items:
- The Engaged Scholar Initiative Cover Sheet - Preliminary research statement (limit: 1 page)
- Narrative statement that outlines how the research and career interest of the applicant will benefit from this program (limit: 2 pages)
- Curriculum Vitae (limit: 2 pages)
- Letter of support from the applicant’s faculty advisor (dissertation supervisor or, if not determined, current mentor) that evaluates the student’s candidacy and dissertation project in relation to the program objectives and selection criteria, submitted with signature endorsement of the department chair (limit: 2 pages)

Application Process for Undergraduate Students
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following items:
- Program Application Form
- Application Essay (limit: 2 pages)
- Sample Paper: scholarly essay written for a class at The University of Texas at Austin
- Faculty letter of recommendation
- Resume or Curriculum Vita (limit: 1 page)
Applicants are also required to have:
- Minimum G.P.A. of 3.2
- Minimum of Junior class standing by Fall 2019
Deadline: Friday, March 29 at 5:00 p.m.
