The Gospel According to Bono

Part of the Religion in Public Event Series, Dr. Chad Seales

Wed, September 18, 2019 | George Washington Carver Museum

6:30 PM

Please join the Department of Religious Studies for the first event of the academic year in the "Religion in Public" event series. Professor Chad Seales will discuss “The Gospel According to Bono.” For many, U2’s Bono is an icon of both evangelical spirituality and secular moral activism. This talk examines the religious and spiritual culture that has built up around the rock star over the course of his career and considers how Bono engages with that religion in his music and in his activism.

The event will take place Wednesday, September 18 from 6:30-8 pm at The George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, located at 1165 Angelina Street, Austin, Texas. Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to the public.
