The Workshop on Late Antiquity presents
A lecture by Kim Bowes, Cornell University

The history of Christianity had been dominated by its public face--by bishops, by great basilicas, by doctrinal stuggles. This talk addresses Christianity’s other history--the history of private worship in the home. Drawing on both archaeological and textual evidence, it describes the challenge that domestic worship presented to a still-nascent public institution.
