New Music Inspired by Early and Folk Materials


Etty Ben-Zaken Steinberg studied singing at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy and theater at the School of Visual Theater, Jerusalem. She has won critical acclaim for her performances and recordings. Well versed in the extended vocal techniques of 20th century music, she feels equally at home performing early music as well as folk repertoir from her Sephardic heritage.
Eitan Steinberg is the head of Haifa Universitys Music Department and the winner of Israelâ•˙s 2007 Prime Ministerâ•˙s Composition Award. He studied at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy, at the Chigiana Academy in Italy, and the University of California at Berkeley. His collaboration with his wife has yielded more than twenty vocal works written for her voice.
