Yom HaShoah Commemoration

Join us for a special commemoration of Yom Hashoah and the conclusion of Light/The Holocaust & Humanity Project on April 19 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.


6-6:45 p.m. Light refreshments and tour of Light/The Holocaust & Humanity Project Partners  (Social Hall)
7-8:30 p.m.  Commemorative Service (Sanctuary)

The service will feature:

  • A keynote address by Stephen Mills, Ballet Austin Artistic Director, about his informative journey to create Light/The Holocaust & Humanity Project.
  • Readings by lead partners and honorary chairs including Ballet Austin Executive Director Cookie Ruiz, Anti-Defamation League Austin Chair Sherrie Frachtman, and Austin Chief of Police Art Acevedo.
  • Appearances by Austin Jewish Academy students and Theater Action Project participants.
  • A preview of KLRU’s documentary on Light, directed by Karen Bernstein, airing in full later that evening.
  • Remarks by Mike O’Krent, JCAA Chair of Yom HaShoah Commemoration; Rabbi Freedman of Temple Beth Shalom; and Rabbi Neil Blumofe of Congregation Agudas Achim.
