As the Halloween season is approaching, evil is afoot! Now, you all know how to ward off vampires, witches and zombies... But what about the bannik, rusalka, leshi or poludnitsa?

Come learn about the creatures of Slavic folklore and how to best deal with them!

While your chances of running into one in Texas are slim, you'll surely impress your Slavic counterparts with such knowledge. We will also discuss the presence of Slavic superstitions in everyday, modern Russian culture.

Katya Cotey is a PhD student in the Comparative Literature Program and a Russian author of non-fiction and fantasy.
