New Faculty at the Department!!!

The Department for Slavic and Eurasian Studies is pleased to introduce new faculty.

Veronika Tuckerova, our new Lecturer in Czech Studies, will teach three Czech language and culture courses this year. She received her Ph.D. from Columbia University’s Department of Germanic Languages and the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society, where her dissertation topic was “Reading Kafka during the Cold War Czechoslovakia.”

Malika Karimova is a Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant. She will be teaching beginning Tajik in Fall 2011 and Spring 2012.  Malika studies at the Tajik Governmental University in the Department of Finances and Management.  Her focus is business and management.

Aveizer (Avi) Tucker, the husband of Veronika Tuckerova, is a specialist on the Politics of East Central Europe. He will be in residence this year at UT and teaching an Introduction to European Studies this fall. He will also be involved with initiatives of the UT Energy Institute that relate to energy issues in our region.
