PHS Annual Distinguished Lecture: Myra Marx Ferree

Although awareness of the globalization of higher education is high, the question that is less often asked is, what does this process have to do with the claims for change in the structures and practices of colleges and universities to better include women researchers? In addressing this important question, Professor Myra Marx Ferree considers both globalization and gender equality movements across higher education as connected political processes.

There will also be a Workshop on Theory and Method for advanced graduate students by invitation.

Myra Marx Ferree is the Alice H. Cook Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a member of the Gender and Women’s Studies Department. Her books include Varieties of Feminism: German Gender Politics in Global Perspective (2012), Gender, Violence and Human Security with Aili Tripp and Christina Ewig (2013), and Gender: Ideas, Interactions and Institutions with Lisa Wade (2014). Her numerous articles cover feminist organizations and politics, as well as gender inequality in families, the inclusion of gender in sociological theory and practice, and intersections of gender with race and class.
