The Hard Tuth about Telecommuting

Half to two-thirds of work employees do at home pushes their weekly work hours above 40, indicating in most cases "telecommuters" are just adding overtime to their work days, Mary C. Noonan of The University of Iowa and Jennifer L. Glass of The University of Texas at Austin write in Monthly Labor Review. In fact, telecommuting may allow employers to impose longer work days and work weeks and to raise expectations employees will be available evenings and weekends as well.
