Celbrate Me!! is a travel eexploration activity designed to celebrate creativity and diversity.  Each time we will visit a new corner of the globe.  Our journey will explore differnt cultures and the artistic life of their community throught language, food, geography, and history.

Presentations and Lectures

noon- 1 p.m. Discussion of Sanskrit language and Hindu mythology presented by Sudhee Subrahmaniya (classroom)

1- 2 p.m. Speaking and Playing Tabla Drums in North India presented by Eben Graves (classroom)

2-3 p.m. Ancient Buddhist Art presented by Shrita Gajendragadkar (classroom)

1:00-1:30 p.m. Yoga for Kids Class by Ayesha Venkatrao-Holcombe (dance studio)

2:00-2:30 p.m.  “Moving Myths of India” storytelling by Anuradha Naimpally (dance studio)

Theatre Events

noon- 1 p.m.  
Sangeet Millennium students perform sitar and vocal music with tabla accompaniment

Ustad Ghulam Farid Nizami and son Faraz Nizami sing Sufi songs of love and devotion with their own tabla and harmonium accompaniment (Boyd Vance Theater)

1:00-2:00 p.m.  Screening of award-winning documentary film "Disrupted Divas - Conflicting Pathways" about socially marginalized women entertainers in India (PG-13).  (Boyd Vance Theater)

2:00-2:30 p.m. - Demonstration of Lathi (Indian stick fighting) by Ritchie Mintz (Boyd Vance Theater)

2:30-3:00 p.m. Traditional dance by Austin Dance India (Boyd Vance Theater)

3:00-4:00 p.m.   Special closing performance by Amie & Sangeet Millennium (Boyd Vance Theater)
