Part I (3:00 - 3:30 pm)

a. Defining heritage learners: Who are they? Characteristics of the students. Demographic information.

b. The language skills of heritage learners: What do they know? What haven't they acquired yet? Standard Spanish, dialects and registers.

Part II (3:30 – 4:30 pm)

a. The Heritage Language Program at UH: courses, objectives, materials, resources, instructors.

Break (4:30 – 4:45 pm)

Part III (4:45 – 5:45 pm)

a. Placing heritage learners: challenges and pay-offs of developing an online placement / credit exam.

b. Results of the pilot exam
