Dear AISD Middle and High School Spanish instructors:

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin invite you to participate in this year’s UT-AISD Spanish Poetry Recitation Fest. Participants selected by their Middle and High School instructors will submit video-taped performances of their recitations. The students’ work will be recognized and celebrated by being posted on the UT Spanish Department / UT Youtube Channel, along with a brief bio of each participating student. The videos will be posted within three to four weeks of the submission deadline. Students will also receive a certificate of participation.

Spanish teachers are encouraged to hold their own in-house poetry recitation contests, however they see fit. Then teachers should select one student from each Spanish level taught at their school to create and submit a video with their poem recitation. The selected students should choose one of the poems from this list and they should create a video of them reciting the poem.

The deadline for submissions will be Sunday, April 25. Teachers can submit one video per each instructional level taught. Each participant may recite one poem chosen from among those listed here. The poems are divided into three levels: BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, and ADVANCED.

We are looking forward to receiving your students’ submissions. Please encourage their participation!
