Student Information


Student Arrival

Enter the Erwin Center through the Red River Street (west) entrance. Please arrive at the Lone Star Room in the Erwin Center at 10:30 a.m. to check in with a Liberal Arts staff member and obtain a name card (which will be read as you cross the stage).

During the Ceremony

Do not bring any valuables that you cannot carry with you at all times, as you will not be able to leave anything in the preparation room. A professional photographer will take your picture as you cross the stage. Information on ordering photographs will be included in the commencement program.

Regalia

Academic regalia (cap, gown, tassel, and stole) are required for all ceremonies, and may be purchased from the University Co-op. Cap tassels and stoles for the College of Liberal Arts are white. The deadline to order regalia is May 12, 2019. Students should wear business casual attire underneath their regalia. Only academic related additions to the regalia will be allowed (i.e. Honor Cords, Honor Society sashes, etc.)

Services for Students with Disabilities

Special services are available to accommodate the needs of degree candidates with disabilities who will be participating in commencement activities. Degree candidates who require accommodations are asked to contact Agnes Savich at 512-232-2973 at least five days before the ceremony.

Guest Information


Arrival and Seating

Guest seating at the Frank Erwin Center will open at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are not required for the joint ceremony. Air horns are not allowed in the Erwin Center. Ushers will check for and confiscate air horns.

Security Procedures

Because of heightened security concerns, additional safety procedures will be in place for all commencement ceremonies and all commencement venues. Backpacks, tote bags or any bags larger than 12 inches in any dimension will not be allowed into the Erwin Center. For further details, including a list of prohibited items, please see the Frank Erwin Center's Enhanced Security Plan.

Live Webcast

The College of Liberal Arts will be broadcasting its commencement ceremony live over the Internet on Friday, May 24, at 11 a.m. CST.

Services for Guests with Disabilities

Guests with mobility issues should enter the Frank Erwin Center through Red River Street entrance. Ushers will be at these doors to help them to the elevator and seating. One person can enter the Red River Street entrance with the guest with mobility issues.

Guests with hearing impairments should contact Agnes Savich at 512-232-2973 at least five days before the ceremony. Assisted listening devices as well as interpreting services are both available at this event.
