Mon, Jan 6, 2014

The Austin Area GIS Day  took place at the State Capitol on November 20th, 2013.  Attended by GIS professionals, academics, and government officials, the event was organized to provide an opportunity for individuals to discuss the impact of GIS on both an international scale as well as locally in Austin.

Graduate and undergraduate students in the UT chapter of theAmerican Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS)participated in the event. With their own booth, students showcased a collection of GIS and remote sensing research, as well as networked with a wide range of professional GIS organizations located in Austin, including Surveying and Mapping Inc., ESRI, SWCA, City of Austin, SWIGGIS, Austin Water, among many others. Some of these organizations have been invited to speak to the ASPRS student chapter about work opportunities in the spring semester.
