Scholastic Probation

To remain in good academic standing at the University, students must maintain a minimum 2.00 GPA. If the cumulative GPA drops below 2.00, the student is placed on scholastic probation. If a student fails to maintain a certain GPA in subsequent semesters, they could be subject to dismissal. The University outlines the following benchmarks for avoiding dismissal:

Total Hours

(current + transfer + undertaken)

Fewer than 15

15 - 44

45 - 59

60 or more

If the student fails to achieve the University’s benchmark, the College offers its own policy for continuance. Liberal Arts students who show marked improvement of at least six grade points (the equivalent of a 2.50 semester GPA on twelve hours) with no Fs or incompletes are allowed to continue at the University.

Students on probation who achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above and the end of a grade-reporting period in which they are currently enrolled are removed from probation.
