LLILAS

Overview

The Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies is an interdisciplinary program dedicated to socially engaged scholarship and immersion in the language, culture, and history of Latin America. For their mission and community engagement, visit their website.

In addition, LLILAS and the Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (COERLL) offer classes in Ki'che' and Nahuatl. Click here for an introduction to learning these languages at UT.

Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships

The Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies is also an awarding center for FLAS fellowships to support language study. Here, Matthew Rabatin, Senior Program and Outreach Coordinator for the Center for European Studies, talks through the opportunities and requirements of FLAS in the context of European Studies (a European link would not be required for fellowships awarded through LLILAS).
