Language Matters! Iran since the Revolution: A Bridge-to-Content Course in Persian

Recent changes to the Persian curriculum at UT mean that a novice students will now take only three semesters (15 credits) of language instruction before entering upper-division content courses taught in the target language on wide range of topics related to Iran and the Persianate world. The question facing the Persian program has been: what are the implications of this change both for the intensive language courses and the content courses themselves? 

This presentation examines the curriculum currently used in PRS 322K: Intermediate Persian, the last course in the language sequence, in order to open up a discussion about how we prepare students for content courses, both in terms of language ability and historical and cultural knowledge.
