How can dramatic performance benefit the foreign-language learner? And how can dramatic techniques help instructors choreograph a more dynamic classroom? This workshop will guide instructors through strategies for transforming literary text into a rich source of student creativity and for reinvigorating the language classroom through dramatic performance. Participants will learn how to encourage students to interact with texts through speaking, writing, and performance. From non-verbal and verbal warm-up exercises to improvisation, speaking/writing exercises and techniques for provoking lively discussion, this workshop provides a variety of strategies for activities that can immediately be used in the foreign-language classroom.
