Celia Hubert, Researcher, National Institute of Public Health

Celia Hubert has recently completed her PhD in Sociology while working for the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin. She holds a master’s in sociology from The University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s in actuarial science from the Instituto Tecnólogico Autónomo de México. She specialized in demography at The University of Texas at Austin. She is currently a research associate at the National Institute of Public Health.

Celia Hubert has experience in policy evaluation, designing and implementing survey research, and implementing public policy. She worked for the Mexican Federal Government for 10 years in programs related to development and education such as Progresa (now Oportunidades), the Ministry of Social Development, and the Ministry of Public Education. In her graduate studies at The University of Texas, she studied possible effects of unintended pregnancies on women’s health and well-being as well as the relationship between education and fertility intentions. Her dissertation is entitled, “Timing of First Birth and Education in Mexico: An Analysis of Three Cohorts.”

Outside work, Celia enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
