Kathleen Broussard, Graduate Student Researcher, University of Texas at Austin

Kathleen Broussard is a graduate student researcher and trainee at the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Chicago and is currently pursuing a PhD in Sociology with a specialization in demography. Kathleen’s research interests include maternal and reproductive health, gender, and development. She joined the Texas Policy Evaluation Project in August 2016.

Kathleen’s previous research utilized qualitative methods, including surveys and in-depth interviews. While at Chicago, she investigated the attitudes and decision-making processes of black, college-educated women in regards to work, marriage, and fertility. For the past two years, she provided resources for survivors of sexual assault as a Victim Advocate for the United States Army.

On her days off, Kathleen can be found hiking, gardening, or riding her bike around Austin in search of her new favorite taco truck.  She speaks Spanish and is currently studying Hindi.
