Kristen Burke, Graduate Student Researcher, The University of Texas at Austin

Kristen L. Burke is a Graduate Student Researcher in the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Florida and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Sociology with a specialization in demography. Kristen’s research interests include reproductive health, healthcare access, and family formation. She joined the Texas Policy Evaluation Project in September 2018.

Prior to joining the Texas Policy Evaluation Project, Kristen worked as a research assistant at the Guttmacher Institute where she studied abortion access and contraceptive use among women in the United States. She also previously served as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Spartanburg, South Carolina where she assisted in opening a free clinic for people without health insurance.

In her free time, Kristen enjoys cooking, reading fiction, and playing the bassoon.
