Lauren Thaxton, Assistant Professor of Women's Health, Dell Medical School


Lauren Thaxton is an assistant professor and practicing OB/GYN in the Department of Women’s Health at Dell Medical School. She completed both her residency in OB/GYN and her fellowship in family planning at the University of New Mexico. She received her medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine and holds a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on clinical research and a Master of Business Administration with a focus on health organization management.

Her research is focused on patient centered care in contraception, abortion and outpatient anesthesia. Her publications have been featured in journals such as the American Journal of the Medical Sciences, the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics. She has been invited to present posters and abstracts pertaining to her work at the regional and national level. She has been working with the Texas Policy Evaluation Project investigating novel tools for addressing issues/dissatisfaction with postpartum contraception.
