TxPEP Submits Letter to Texas HHSC Regarding Healthy Texas Women 1115 Demonstration Waiver
TxPEP submits letter to TX HHSC.

On June 12, 2017, TxPEP investigators submitted a letter to Texas Health and Human Services Commission regarding the Healthy Texas Women 1115 Demonstration waiver. In the letter, the investigators offer 3 primary recommendations for the waiver application in order to improve the HTW program and help HHSC achieve its goal of increasing access to family planning services.

First, TxPEP recommends that the waiver application request permission to cover men's vasectomy services. Secondly, TxPEP suggests that the state provide technical assistance and continuing education on evidence-based practice for new providers. Finally, TxPEP recommends that the state provide Healthy Texas Women and postpartum benefits to women meeting the HTW income criteria.
