Shakespeare at Winedale’s 2018 Summer Class takes the stage this July with performances of Shakespeare’s Love's Labour's Lost, Julius CaesarAll's Well That Ends Well and for the first time on the stage of the Winedale Theatre Barn, Arden of Faversham.

“We have a great season lined up, with some wonderful plays that people haven’t had a chance to see for several years,” says Professor James Loehlin, the program’s director.  “Love’s Labour’s Lost is a brilliant comedy.  Julius Caesar is a very timely political tragedy.  All’s Well That Ends Well is one of Shakespeare’s most unusual and surprising romantic comedies—with the heroine pursuing the hero.  And we are very proud to be performing the Winedale debut of Arden of Faversham, a play that has only recently been added to the Shakespearean canon.”

Arden of Faversham: By Shakespeare and unknown collaborators, this true crime story ripped from pages of Holinshed’s Chronicle features seduction, betrayal, and greed.  The wealthy land developer Thomas Arden is vexed by the looming suspicion that his wife, Alice, has been unfaithful. Little does he know this is the least of his problems, as Alice and her lover, Mosby, plot to have Arden murdered.  Unfortunately for all concerned, the killers they hire for the deed are spectacularly—and hilariously—bad at their job.

Performances are Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 7:30pm, with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $10 for general admission or $5 for students as well as UT faculty and staff. Patrons can purchase tickets online through the Shakespeare at Winedale website, or by calling (512) 471-4726.
