Camp Shakespeare presents Hamlet
2019 Camp Shakespeare's Hamlet

Prince Hamlet of Denmark will be sharing the boards on various stages in the area for the next two weeks with a vigorous troupe of Camp Shakespeare players, reminding them once again “to suit the action to the word, the word to the action,” and “not o’er step the bounds of modesty.”  Whether they will heed that advice or not is something audiences may see and hear at the public performances scheduled in Austin, Gonzales, Winedale, and Round Top.

Camp Shakespeare Director, Robin Grace Soto and Jim (Doc) Ayres completed only a week ago their “Italian journey” with first session students in The Merchant of Venice. “We are now headed for Denmark,” said Camp Shakespeare Director Robin Grace Soto, ”and anyone who witnessed the power and creative energy of Merchant will want to see this one.”

“This is the 4th Hamlet in the 19 years of Camp Shakespeare,” Ayres reminded, “and a wonderful opportunity to see his story told with youthful freshness, intelligence and imagination, an exciting ensemble celebration of this great play.”

Playing Hamlet is Harrison Knight of Austin. La Grange’s David Krupala will play Laertes and Conner Underwood, the Ghost of Hamlet’s father.
