Emily Whalen is a doctoral student in History at the University of Texas - Austin. She specializes in US foreign policy in the Middle East, Europe during the late Cold War, and the Lebanese Civil War. She is a consultant for the EastWest Institute and previously worked for the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project. Emily speaks French, Italian, and Levantine Arabic, and is a Clements Center Graduate Fellow. She tweets @eiwhalen.
