Dr. Richard Reddick interview: What it Means to Lead Equity and Inclusion Efforts in Colleges and Campuses

Dr. Richard Reddick, AADS faculty affiliate and the Inaugural Associate Dean for Equity, Community Engagement and Outreach of the College of Education at UT, sat down for an interview with the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Harvard Edcast on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts at UT and across higher education. In the interview, Dr. Reddick discusses the expansion of vital DEI initiatives in higher education and how these initiatives should "foster more courageous spaces on college campuses." This work, challenging as it is, Dr. Reddick argues, cannot and should not be undertaken as a one-person job. Moreover, Dr. Reddick speaks to the nature of the leadership appointed to chart the course for the most successful campus DEI efforts, how their positions are institutionally centralized rather than marginalized, and how their efforts should carry the full weight and support of the leadership's respective dean, provost, or president.
