New York
Since 2018, AADS has offered a summer course which takes place in New York City called “The Global City.”
The four-week course explores how America’s largest metropolis has been transnational since its inception: from the conquest of indigenous lands, to the city’s involvement in the U.S. slave trade and plantation economy, to its central role in the industrial revolution, to its status as a destination point for migrants from around the world and, finally, to its emergence as a center of global finance.
Students visit historic landmarks, neighborhoods, museums. The city itself is the classroom.
More about future offerings of the Global City (and how you can apply) to come.
