If you are in Central Texas and have found an object you'd like to identify, your best bets are, 1) Fossil Identification/National Fossil Day at UT's Texas Science & Natural History Museum, which typically takes place on the Wednesday of the second full week in October, and 2) the Witte Museum's Object Identification Form.
