About LMS
Language Meaning and Society was an international journal of linguistic anthropology. It was an annual peer-reviewed publication edited by graduate students in the linguistic anthropology program at the University of Texas at Austin. The goal of the journal was to focus on research that had broad theoretical and/or methodological implications for our understanding of the relationship between language, meaning, and society. There are many new topics of intellectual interest in the area of culture and communication, given emerging communication technologies and increased possibilities for interaction across nations and communities.
We thank the College of Liberal Arts for their financial support, as well as the Department of Anthropology for their assistance with web maintenance and administrative support. We would like to thank all of the students and faculty members who helped us with the journal, and in particular, Professor Elizabeth Keating, who has been very generous with her time and energy. We would also like to thank the many anonymous reviewers who gave us invaluable feedback and guidance.
