Welcome to UT’s Program in British, Irish and Empire Studies (BIES). Known formerly as the Program in British Studies, our activities and interests encompass every aspect of the British Isles, and the territories and peoples that have at some point been considered part of the British Empire. This program is focused on building community and fostering conversation around a shared interest in British Studies. We will bring speakers to campus throughout the academic year, host workshops and conferences, support the work of UT students and faculty and seek collaborations across UT disciplines and beyond the campus. We seek to deepen our understanding of the past and the present of the British Isles and the larger British Empire. Please join us on this exciting journey.
