    Applications are now open and will be reviewed on the 15th of every month until funds are depleted. Please refer to each application link for information on due dates.

    All requests must receive final approval by the College of Liberal Arts before funds can be dispersed. 

    Please note that the College of Liberal Arts (CoLA) has recently updated its co-sponsorship rules to prioritize events that directly engage CoLA faculty staff, and/or students.

    Did you know that the Warfield Center for African and African American Studies is the programming hub of UT’s Black Studies Collective? Would you like to learn more about the Center and meet other people interested in the study of Africa and its diaspora? If so, the new Warfield Student Affiliate Program is for you. Open to undergraduate and graduate students, this initiative aims to increase engagement with the Center’s research and programming endeavors. Students may choose one of the following tracks:

    Study

    • Take:
      • 2 African and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) courses
        OR
      • 2 courses cross-listed with AADS

     

    Research

    • Apply for and receive one of the following:
      • Warfield Graduate Student Travel Grant
      • Warfield Undergraduate Research Grant
      • Warfield Undergraduate Study Abroad Scholarship

     

    Attendance & Engagement

    (choose 2 of 3)

    • Attend 1 Warfield Center event or 1 event sponsored by African and African Diaspora Studies, the Art Galleries at Black Studies (AGBS), or the Institute for Urban Policy Research and Analysis (IUPRA)
      AND
    • Volunteer at 1 Warfield Center event
      OR
    • Present creative work or research at Warfield Student Showcase

     

    Employment

    • Hold a student-worker position in any of the Black Studies Collective units: African and African Diaspora Studies, the Art Galleries at Black Studies (AGBS), the Institute for Urban Policy Research and Analysis (IUPRA), or the Warfield Center

     

    Additional Benefits:

    In addition to expanding their knowledge, meeting new people, and securing support for their academic endeavors, Warfield Student Affiliates will enjoy the following benefits:

    • Opportunities to present their creative/scholarly work at an annual Warfield Student Showcase
