Law Fair Success Strategies
Law Fair is designed to create connections between prospective students and law school admissions professionals. Your attendance at Law Fair is not considered an interview, but it is an opportunity to leave a positive impression with law school representatives. This event is different from Career Fair, only law schools will be attending, employers will not be present. Your resume is not necessary to bring to this event. Your conversations should be an open dialogue, sharing information about yourself while learning about different schools.
- Researching Law Schools
- Review list of law schools attending the fair and research the schools you are most interested in. Research these schools in advance to learn about:
- Law school values, reputation, and notable accomplishments
- Character and ambiance of school and city it is located in
- Campus visits
- If the school uses Credential Assembly Service (CAS)
- Scholarship opportunities
- Plan which law schools you want to speak with and manage your time to prepare for schools that will have longer lines. It’s encouraged to speak with representatives from law schools across the country, there are great opportunities that all law schools can offer that are worth exploring!

- Preparing Questions
Prepare questions ahead of time tailored to your stage in the pre-law journey and who you might speak with. Questions for an admissions representative may be different than for a current law student or alumni. Avoid asking questions that can easily be answered on the school's website. Below are some questions you may want to ask:
- How does your school view work experience prior to attending your law school?
- What types of jobs do your graduates tend to do?
- Does your school offer deferments?
- Does your school offer fee waivers?
- Is there an advantage in applying early?
- Does your school have early action or early decision?
- Are you on a quarter or semester system?
- Is spring enrollment available?
- Does your school have a part-time program?
- What’s the average age of someone starting at your law school?
- What are the criteria and procedures for obtaining state resident status while in law school?
- How does your admissions team review applications?
- What is the application process for joint degree programs?
- What types of recommendations are most helpful?
- What does your law school offer for student services to help with potential accommodations?
