Scholarships
The Edward A. Clark Center for Australian and New Zealand Studies is making $5,000 available specifically for first-generation college students. Students who wish to be considered for a scholarship should fill out the Qualtrics form liked here.
COLA has approved a scholarship allocation of $20,000 for the 2026 Politics of the Great Barrier Reef May Term Program. Funding will be provided from the Bernard and Audre Rapoport Endowment for International and Multidisciplinary Studies. Apply for a study abroad scholarship through LASSO, the Longhorn Awards and Students Scholarshop Opportunities portal: simply type "Great Barrier Reef" in the scholarship search page. Students receiving Rapoport Scholarships will be asked to write a thank-you letter to the endowment representative.
Students who receive Pell Grants are eligible for generous scholarships through the Gilman International Scholar Program. UT has a strong record in terms of students receiving these funds. Texas Global offers resources to help students apply, including an application writing workshop.
Students are also encouraged to learn more about additional funding options and scholarships.

Course Credit
The Townsville May Term is listed as a course in the Department of Government: GOV 355M – Topics in Political Science: The Politics of Protecting the Great Barrier Reef. Students can apply credit earned in this course towards a major or minor in Government, Sustainability Studies, or International Relations and Global Studies (IRG). For IRG students, credit can be applied towards the Science, Technology, and the Environment track. This course also counts under the "Social Science" Strand Course for the Environment & Sustainability BDP (Bridging Disciplines Programs).
