Classical Archaeology major awarded Fulbright Fellowship

Congratulations to Classical Archaeology major Elizabeth De Marigny, who has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for 2012-2013 to continue her studies and research next year at Bylazora in the Republic of Macedonia.

Lizzy's project next year is to register, document, and curate the exhibits of material remains found at the ancient Paeonian city of Bylazora.  Lizzy has spent the past two summers (2010 and 2011) working at the site under the auspices of the Texas Foundation for Archaeological and Historical Research (TFAHR). She has already contributed to the excavations both as a field volunteer, actively uncovering this historic city, and as a ceramicist at the People's Museum in the nearby town of Sveti Nikole, where she has helped process the remains uncovered at the site.  Next year she will also work with the museum's staff to develop an educational program to encourage residents to explore the museum and its exhibitions and to engage more actively in the preservation and understanding of this monumental archaeological site.
