Biography

My master’s thesis which I completed in Edinburgh in 2017 was the first study to comparatively analyze examples of l’écriture feminine from Uruguay and Turkey, and from the perspective of queer theory. Upon my return to Istanbul, I got an appointment in Sabanci University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences as a teaching assistant in literature. Meanwhile I gave several talks on queer theory in Istanbul and co-organized two seminar series which focused on queer(ing) Turkish Literature. While trying to contribute in the implementation of queer studies in Turkey, I also found “Istanbul Reading Club” with the support of some friends of mine, which is a book club that meets bi-monthly in Istanbul. My current doctoral research at UT is about the 20th century Middle Eastern and Latin American Literatures from the perspective of queer theory.
