Continuing Jefferson Scholars Eligibility
The JSP program is flexible, allowing students to complete their coursework in as little as three semesters or spread it out over all four years. The minimum requirements for continuing in the program and remaining eligible for reserved seats in classes, special events, and JSP scholarships are as follows:
- Freshman Year: attach the CTI certificate to your major by Nov. 1; Complete at least one and preferably 2-3 CTI courses by end of spring semester.
- Sophomore Year: complete at least 3 CTI courses in total.
- Junior Year: complete at least 4 CTI courses covering all 4 CTI area requirements.
- Senior Year: complete at least 5 CTI courses in total by December; complete all 6 CTI courses and all certificate requirements by graduation.
To continue in the Jefferson Scholars Program, it is imperative that you attach your certificate to your major through meeting with your academic advisor in your first semester. Without this action, you will not be considered a continuing scholar and you will not be able to register for reserved CTI courses.
Exceptions to the plan above may be granted by the CTI advisor depending on circumstances, but in order to stay in the JSP program you must stay on track with a continued demonstration of commitment to completing the certificate. Failure to do so can result in removal from the Jefferson Scholars Program.
Lastly, in order to be eligible for JSP Book Awards, you must have completed a minimum of 3 CTI or CTI qualifying courses.
