Earn a Master's Degree in Taiwan
Fulbright Taiwan and its partner universities offer opportunities for U.S. students to apply for scholarships that will enable them to pursue full-time studies in Taiwan. There are both Programs with English and with Chinese as medium of instruction available.

Fulbright Taiwan offers 13 English-taught and 11 Chinese-taught MA degree scholarship awards. This includes Chinese-taught awards, which have been implemented only in the past year. These are Fulbright student Awards, supported by the Fulbright Program through application to the Institute for International Education (IIE):

In most cases (with the exception of #7), awards are for three years, with the first year dedicated to intensive language study, and the second and third years to Master’s degree studies taught in Chinese (students may write their MA theses in English). The award provides grantees with a 100% tuition waiver, campus housing, a monthly stipend, National Health Insurance, and round-trip airfare.
Eligibility: at least a Bachelor’s degree at time of matriculation, and Chinese language level equivalent to higher intermediate at time of application:

• TOCFL: Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language 臺灣華語文能力測驗 (Taiwan’s test before 2023) (B1)
• TBCL: Taiwan Benchmarks for the Chinese Language 臺灣華語文能力基準 (Taiwan’s test after 2023)(4)

Scholars & Professionals
Worldwide, the Core Fulbright Scholar Program offers opportunities for over 470 Americans and 800 non-U.S. grantees for teaching, research, and conduct professional projects in 160 countries. Opportunities are available for higher education faculty and administrators as well as for professionals outside of academia, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, and independent scholars. Between Taiwan and the U.S. there are approximately 50 scholars and non-academic professionals who receive a grant each year, 10-15 Americans and 30-40 Taiwanese. Taiwan also sponsors 12 Fulbrighters in the International Education Administrators program, to seek cooperation with Taiwan higher education institutes.

2023-2024 FSE English Teacher Trainer Program TEFL Advisor Scholarship
The FSE English Teacher Trainer scholarship program provides qualified TEFL teachers or professors with the opportunity to spend one year as Academic Advisors for Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETA) and English Teaching Flagship (ETF) participants who serve at K-9 & university levels. Advisors work with the Americans and their counterparts Taiwanese Local English Teachers (LETs).
The purpose of the program is to enhance professional expertise through visits, observations, consultations, and coordination. By supervising these outstanding Americans and Taiwanese English teachers, the Advisors contribute to create a better English Teaching environment in Taiwan.
