Texas Asia Conference 2017: The New Normal

The Texas Asia Conference (TAC) is a biennial and international graduate student conference organized on the initiative of the graduate students of The University of Texas at Austin, Department of Asian Studies. The conference provides a space to present and engage with graduate research work centered on Asia as a regional focus from various disciplinary perspectives. With this year’s conference theme, The new normal, panels will confront and explore various definitions of and approaches to the term “normal” and “normativity” in the study of Asia through different disciplinary approaches. These disciplines include but are not limited to: anthropology, art history, linguistics, dance performance, ethnomusicology, film studies, history, literature, philology, political science, religious studies, sociology and women’s studies.
