The Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program at the University of Texas was established in 1940 to develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty in order to commission college graduates as naval officers.

Upon graduation, the NROTC student is commissioned in the Navy or Marine Corps and will be thrust into a leadership role immediately.
