The Empirical Macroeconomics Policy Center of Texas (EMPCT) is dedicated to promoting, supporting and diffusing empirical macroeconomic research that speaks directly to important policy questions. EMPCT brings together scholars and leaders from Texas and the rest of the world to explore exciting opportunities for research, cooperation, and the advancement of macroeconomic policy design.
About Us
The Economics Department is one of the largest departments within the College of Liberal Arts, with over 500 students graduating each year.
Undergraduate Program
The undergraduate program trains students to think objectively and independently about a wide range of economic topics. With an emphasis in the application of mathematics and writing skills, this program prepares students for professional careers in industry, finance, government, law, and teaching.
MA Program
The MA program offers a rigorous curriculum with quantitative training that prepares students for careers in the public and private sector. This program also allows students to complete an MA degree in as little as 10 months.
Ph.D. Program
The Ph.D. program equips students for academic careers with an educational emphasis in economic theory, statistical methods, and field application. In addition, students are brought to the top of their discipline by an active series of research seminars as a supplement to their coursework.
