Welcome to New Student Orientation!
Incoming students are required to meet with an Academic Advisor before registering for courses. Schedule your advising appointment, learn how to prepare for the appointment, and see helpful resources for registration below.
Incoming transfer students must register for New Student Orientation with New Student Services. If you have not signed up for your transfer orientation session, sign up here.

Schedule your Advising Appointment
Incoming transfer students can select an advising appointment time that works best with their schedule. All transfer orientation advising appointments will be on Zoom.
Prepare for your Appointment
Before your advising appointment, you should review the pre-orientation modules in Canvas. Review both the Liberal Arts and Economics specific information. These modules go over departmental policies, opportunities, and general information about UT Austin.

Exchange Students: see the section below labeled "Exchange Students"
Incoming Freshmen and Transfers:
You will have a required advising appointment as part of Longhorn Orientation. During this appointment, you will meet one-on-one with an advisor to discuss previous credit and course options for your first semester.
If you have been admitted to UT-Austin but have not yet registered for Longhorn Orientation, you can do so here.
All incoming students have an advising hold. After you attend your required appointments during orientation, your hold will be cleared and you can register for classes. Registration happens on the last day of your orientation session.
Exchange Students
We cannot meet with incoming exchange students at this time. You will receiven an email from our office with instructions for how to request courses and clear your advising hold closer to the start of the semester.
