Scholarships

 

FRIT Departmental (French and Italian)

Application deadline: March 14th, 2025

  • Annual departmental undergraduate scholarships are awarded by the Department of French & Italian every Spring.
  • Over $30,000 in undergraduate scholarships are awarded each spring, with individual awards typically between $2,000 and $8,000.
  • All applications will require 2 letters of recommendation to complete application submission.

IFE Scholarship (French Only)

Application deadline: March 14th, 2025

  • The IFE scholarship supports students participating in Institute for Field Education each spring for the following academic year.
  • The IFE scholarship covers student's flights, lodging, and program fees through the generous support of the Julia Walther/Julia Scarbrough Fisher Endowment Fund.
  • Applicants must be declared French majors, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 to apply.
  • Applicants must have completed at least FR 322E (or 6hrs of upper division FR coursework) with French coursework GPA of at least 3.5.
  • All applications will require 2 letters of recommendation to complete application submission. At least 1 letter should come from a faculty member in French at UT.

  • For questions regarding the scholarship application process, please contact FRIT Department Manager, Andrew O'Brien.
  • Please note that applying for the scholarship is separate from applying to the IFE program through Texas Global. Students will need to apply to both the IFE program and IFE scholarship to be eligible to receive the IFE scholarship. Please pay close attention to Texas Global program application deadlines, as they will differ from the scholarship deadline.
