Spring 2026 FRIT Poetry Contest
FRIT is pleased to announce an inaugural poetry contest for Spring 2026. Students are encouraged to submit original and independently-created work(s) of poetry. Poems should not be previously published; however, works that have previously been submitted for class assignments may be used for the contest. This contest is open to all UT undergraduates regardless of major or minor. All submissions will be judged anonymously by a jury of FRIT graduate students. Winning students will be recognized at the FRIT Department Annual Award Ceremony at the end of April.
Submissions must be received at this Box link no later than April 6th. Submissions will not be accepted by email or in physical copy. Please read the submission requirements below carefully.
Submission Requirements
- Language: French or Italian
- Word Limit: 750 words per submission
- Maximum of 3 submissions per person; submit each poem as a separate file.
- File Format: PDF only
- File Name: FirstName_LastName_EID (Ex. Jane_Doe_jd12345).
- You should not include your name or EID in the content of your file. To ensure anonymous judging, the only text in the file should be your poem.
- If you submit multiple poems, add a number to the end of the file name to uniquely identify it (Ex. Jane_Doe_jd12345_1 for the first submission, Jane_Doe_jd12345_2 for the second, etc.)
- Follow directions carefully; if files are not named properly, they may be excluded from the contest.
- Deadline: Monday April 6th, 2026
Please contact Dr. Valerie McGuire (Italian Faculty Advisor) for any questions regarding this contest.
