Opened in Fall 2015, the Environmental Hydrology and Water Quality Lab supports chemical and physical analysis of water samples, and a remote sensing and GIS computing room (as noted above, featuring 4 Dell laptops and an HP ENVY Phoenix desktop) shared with the Soils and Geoarchaeology Lab. Our lab focusses on the mineral components of natural waters, to determine suitability for drinking, domestic, and agricultural uses. The instrumentation includes a HACH DR 5000 Spectrophotometer, a HACH DR 2000 Spectrophotometer, a HACH field colorimeter, field and benchtop Conductivity, TDS, Salinity and pH Meters, a water deionization system, and digital titrators for wet chemistry. We also have water filtration pumps, a sample refrigerator, a fume hood, a muffle furnace, and a drying oven. This lab holds a current USDA Soils Import Permit.
